Dear Roger,
I received this
article a day ago in an email newsletter
-- one of many such enlightments the universe has been sending my way
lately.
Thanks, Roger, Gail, everyone, for the
lessons in living and growing.
Love,
Margaret Kallsen
I dont know what to
say sometimes, so I tend to not say anything. But I think,
"Thank you, for letting me in."
I love you,
D. Steinau

So many years under
the bridge between us, Roger, so many happy gatherings since the days
of the Fair and Wellborn. Too many lasagnas too. Some things just
can't ever be broken.

Dear "California" Roger,
Boy, haven't we had some good times?
Thanks for being such a good friend to me. How lucky for all of us
for you to have made your way to Houston and the Fair. And thanks to
Cathy and Flora for maybe putting the idea in your head. We're so
glad to know you.
Steve Baker
OK--Is it just me, or is there a distinct similarity between this picture of Roger and the one of Dustin Hoffman in "The Graduate?"
After talking to
Gail, I'd say there **is** a distinct similarity between the two!!
ha!
GO ROGER! And, let me add one more
thing--it takes true talent for a man to "love 'em, leave 'em.....and
still have them love him afterward!"
Roger--from all the girls you've loved
before, and from all of us who love you now, you're the greatest!
Lynn

Hey Buddy!
Doug and Jenifer love you and wish we could be there to dual
accordions for ya.
Dear Gail...
We're glad we got to see you Saturday,
though it was brief. We were able to follow directions and make it to
the the hospital to spend a little time with Roger. Tom and Donna
(from Elgin) were there, too. We'll really miss Roger, but we will
always remember his warm smile and his keen sense of humor. Many hugs
we send to you. We love you.
Ruth & Will
Gail has asked that memoriums and remembrance be given in Roger's name to Houston Hospice, a non-profit organization that had given great care and support to Roger and Gail in these recent weeks.

I'm so sorry, Gail.
Roger was the best guy and the best boss I ever had. I will never
forget how kind he was to me when I first got to Houston.
Goodbye, Roger
Cathy Slane
I remember Roger's
KPFT radio program, The Glass Onion. I also remember The General at
Anderson Fair saying "As long as everyone is smilin' when I come in,
this place will be open." and Roger kept us all smiling.
Randy Clements
Dear Gail and Roger,
They say Roger has gone, but it's easy
to see from the words on this page that he does and will continue to
live. I think Roger stories will keep us entertained, and reminded,
for years to come.
Peace to all.
Bob Atkins
We have yet to see
our last bottle of Hornitos.

roger,
go in peace, brother.

To Roger and Gail,
As we have shared so many good
times together--great places, great food, great drink, and great mind
benders, words can't simply express the depth of the pleasure and the
warmth of your company we've enjoyed. With the Heradura Gold
and a twist of lime, a toast to you Roger as your spirit passes on to
other places and things, a toast to you Gail for your great love and
strength, and a toast to the hovering band of angels all. One
measure of immortality is the memory of the wonderful times and
things we've shared all these many years, which will live in all of
us forever.
So...Thanks for the Memories.
Much Love,
Doug and Ellen
Dear Gail,
Our deepest sympathy, love and gratitude. Our lives were honored and enriched by our friendship with Roger. We'll always cherish the many fun memories. So glad I got to visit with ya'll in October. Here are a couple of photos of Roger taken in November 1996 at my brother, Malcolm's wake at and memorial.
Much love,
Becky, Pat and Bryan
Dear Gail,
I just heard about Roger passing on. I
am sorry that I was not aware that he had such a serious condition.
By the interest shown on the web site it looks like you have had a
lot of moral support. I give you mine - better late than never.
I will miss him and remember him well,
true and warm hearted. The web site and its messages are a brief
reminder of his warm effect on people he touched. I'm one of them and
I'm glad that the two of you got together - I always felt that you
were pretty good together. Both Lisa and I are sorry for your
loss.
We'll see you on Sunday.
Phil Schmitt
Sometimes you hate to open your email...
Words fail me at times, all I can do is send my love.

I found this on the web:
HOW DO YOU LIVE YOUR DASH
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning......to the end.
He noted that first came her date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years. (l955 - l999)
For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth...
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own;
The cars...the house...the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard...
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real,
And always try to understand
How other people feel.
And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.
We will always
keep in our hearts and heads our memories of the cool dude who
blew in from El-Ay one day many years ago and made a major impact on
all who knew him...whether you knew Roger as the one of the
Anderson Fair core members, or as an Urban Animal
skate trash guy or as Dylan's dad or a conoisseur of Shiner and
tequila, as a Lifer at Yellow Cab, a Defensive Driving teacher,
the ultimate human "Key Map", sports stastician, deejay, music
lover.... husband or... friend, we all must admit one thing-Roge
the Dodge left our lives a little fuller, AND a lot emptier...
I will miss a good friend and Nick will
miss his best compadre.
Love to you, Gail
